A Devotional for Gratitude and Peace

Gentle Yoga Sequence for Gratitude and Peace

This 15–20-minute gentle yoga sequence is designed to calm your mind, release tension, and foster gratitude.

1. Seated Grounding (2 minutes)

  • Sit comfortably on your mat, cross-legged, or on your heels.
  • Close your eyes and place your hands on your heart or palms facing up on your knees.
  • Take deep breaths, inhaling through your nose and exhaling slowly through your mouth.
  • With each inhale, silently say, “Thank You, Lord, for this breath.”
  • With each exhale, release tension and any worries weighing on your heart.

2. Child’s Pose (2 minutes)

  • Kneel on your mat and sink your hips back toward your heels.
  • Stretch your arms forward, or let them rest by your sides.
  • As you rest in this posture, thank God for His presence, which covers you like a warm blanket of peace.

3. Cat-Cow Stretch (2 minutes)

  • Come to an all-fours position with your hands under your shoulders and knees under your hips.
  • Inhale, lifting your head and tailbone into Cow Pose.
  • Exhale, rounding your spine into Cat Pose.
  • Flow through these movements at your own pace, thanking God for the strength and flexibility of your body.

4. Heart-Opening Low Lunge (3 minutes)

  • Step your right foot forward into a low lunge, keeping your left knee on the mat.
  • Lift your arms overhead or bring your hands to your heart in prayer position.
  • Hold for a few breaths, thanking God for His blessings in your life.
  • Repeat on the other side.

5. Standing Forward Fold (2 minutes)

  • Rise to a standing position, then hinge at your hips to fold forward.
  • Let your arms hang loosely or hold opposite elbows.
  • As you fold, imagine surrendering all holiday stress and inviting God’s peace to flow through you.

6. Tree Pose (2 minutes)

  • Stand tall and shift your weight onto your right foot.
  • Place your left foot on your ankle, calf, or thigh—wherever feels stable.
  • Bring your hands to prayer position or lift them overhead like branches.
  • Focus on a point in front of you and silently thank God for being your firm foundation.
  • Repeat on the other side.

7. Reclined Twist (2 minutes)

  • Lie on your back and hug your knees into your chest.
  • Let your knees fall to the right, stretching your arms out wide.
  • Hold for a few breaths, thanking God for His peace that surrounds you.
  • Repeat on the left side.

8. Savasana (5 minutes)

  • Lie flat on your back with your arms relaxed by your sides, palms facing up.
  • Close your eyes and allow your body to fully relax.
  • As you rest, reflect on three things you’re grateful for and offer them to God in thanksgiving.
